U.S. Land Office Registers kept records of public lands sold, patented and those unsold. This record lists vacant and unappropriated lands in the former Greenville and Demopolis Land Districts. The lists include the location, the number of acres and the price per acre. These records provide information about the disposition of public lands in Ala. The Demopolis and Greenville Land Offices were moved to Montgomery in 1879.
